Yuga Labs Requests $400K from Uncompliant Influencer
Yuga Labs is on a quest for non-fungible justice. The BAYC creator has petitioned a U.S. court to turn over approximately $400,000 from an uncompliant crypto influencer named Jeremy Cahen. These funds, which are lying idle in Cahen’s wallets, will enable Yuga Labs to settle legal fees after the influencer failed to comply with a court order.
Three years ago, Yuga Labs sued Cahen and other entities associated with a copycat NFT project that had stolen BAYC IP to attract investors. A year later, one of the individuals connected to the project, Thomas Lehman, settled with the ape-centric giant. Still, Cahen has supposedly refused to play by the books.
It is worth noting that the court has yet to give a green or red light to Yuga Labs’ request. If granted, non-fungibility will once again prevail, as this case sets a precedent for other NFT projects that may face IP rights infringement from actors within the realm.
NFT Drop of the Week
Pxl Monolith
Digital artist and pixel philosopher Pixlosopher has launched a new NFT that bridges pixel art, artificial intelligence (AI), and mythical themes. Dubbed Pxl Monolith, this artwork features a lone pixel art monolith with a cryptic kanji sign, an omen from another epoch, unreadable yet universal.
Pxl Monolith brings together the concept of prophecy, wilderness, and flow. Stirring at the pixelated artwork, one can’t help but call to mind a time when knowledge was passed down on stones while fate flowed like a river. While at it, you get immersed into a dreamlike tension between chaos and transcendence. Encapsulated in 8-bit glyphs, the work whispers of lost languages and forgotten gods.
This pixelated art has been immortalized in the Bitcoin network. Step into this non-fungible journey by owning a part of this piece.
