News Story of the Week
Yuga Labs Upholds Creators’ Royalties
Yuga Labs, a well-known NFT creator, has collaborated with Magic Eden to launch a creator-focused NFT marketplace after three months of anticipation. The marketplace upholds creators’ royalties, which are fees paid to creators of an NFT after every secondary sale of that NFT.
Discussions involving creators' royalties have been controversial over the past few years. Popular NFT marketplaces adopted varying stances on the matter, ranging between compulsory, optional, and zero royalties enforcement. However, Yuga Labs takes a solid stand behind enforcing the royalty fee.
As part of its crusade towards the revival of royalty fees, Yuga Labs has withdrawn its affiliated NFT collections from marketplaces not enforcing the royalty model. Whether you’re a creator or a non-fungible degen, this move could mark a watershed moment for you.
