NFT News of the Week
Jaggedsoft Sues Matt Furie Over NFT Hack
Matt Furie, the brain behind the popular Pepe character, has been sued for his supposed role in a recent NFT hack where $310K was stolen. He partnered with the NFT marketplace Chain/Saw to create an NFT collection dubbed Replicandy. However, an IT worker who joined the project as a developer executed the attack.
How did it happen? The IT worker first transferred ownership of Replicandy from Furie and Chain/Saw to his address. Then, they continuously minted NFTs and sold them in bids until their floor price plummeted to zero. Afterwards, they withdrew the mint proceeds from the contract, totaling at least $310,000, and transferred them to their addresses.
Bittered Jaggedsoft, a developer and NFT investor, has now taken legal action against Furie and other entities behind the project for concealing the incident and being mute about the exploit. How will this saga unfold? Stay tuned to find out
