CryptoPunk Used to Secure Loan

NFTs have transcended from being just digital collectibles to becoming collateral for million-dollar loans. Seedphrase, the holder of CryptoPunk #8348 (the only collectible in the collection with seven attributes), secured a $2.75 million loan using the digital collectible. The non-custodial decentralized NFT lending platform GONDI was used to facilitate the deal.

Seedphrase intends to spend the funds on crypto assets. The loan has a six-month maturity and a 20% interest rate. Failure to repay the loan by the deadline entails the lending platform liquidating Seedphrase’s Punk collectible.

Who said NFTs are losing their charm!? This loan attests that non-fungibility is still very much in vogue. Who knows, this NFT loaning feature and more could attract newbies into the vast non-fungible realm.
